Comedy troupe has fun at expense of 'Star Wars' If only George Lucas knew then. The venerated director probably would have never OK'd the 1978 made-for-television "Star Wars Holiday Special," a most bizarre episode featuring Bea Arthur serenading a bar full of aliens. A Dan Amongst Dans, a borough-based sketch comedy troupe, screens the cult classic tonight in the Muddy Cup coffeehouse, 388 Van Duzer St., Stapleton. Art Carney, Diahann Carroll and Harvey Korman star with Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill in a quest to help Chewbacca reach his imperiled family on the Wookie planet. "It's hard to believe they actually made this. It gets progressively worse," said John Szeluga, who is A Dan Amongst Dans along with Chris Sorrentino, Bryan McGuckin, Frank LaMonaca and Dan Johnson. The gang provides running commentary. Admission to the 8 p.m. screening is free. Call (718) 818-8100. [main page] [news] [media] [myspace] [bios/contact] [merch] [links] ©2008 A Dan Amongst Dans |
